United Ladder, Engine 2, and Engine 6 arrived promptly to find a barn heavily engulfed in flames with an individual still inside and animals trapped. Crews laid 1300' of 5" supply line to a nearby water source while additional crews stretched an attack line interior and took over animal evacuation from the owners. While crews were able to rescue a large portion of the animals, unfortunately, a significant number perished. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Operations lasted for approximately 4 hours. We would like to thank Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Company and Rush Volunteer Rush Fire Department for assisting at the scene with manpower, as well as Hallstead Fire Company - Station 7 for providing cover up at our station. We would also like to thank the often overlooked Montrose Minute Men for providing rehab and tending to the family. |
